I keep rougher numbers than the eBird crowd — no proper transect counts, just what I happen to log after a walk. Still, it's nice to see the shape of the year.

New species logged, by month

The April and October bumps track the migration exactly as you'd expect — everything moving through on its way somewhere else, briefly making the reedbed a lot more interesting than usual. August is always the quiet month; most of what I saw was juveniles that had clearly already decided the world was disappointing.
