About this log
Nothing official — just a place to write down what I've seen so I stop forgetting it by the following spring. I'd been keeping notes in the back of a paper notebook for a couple of years before deciding it might survive longer typed up somewhere.
Most of what ends up here is within an hour's walk of home: a stretch of river, a mill pond, a reedbed that floods every February without fail. Nothing exotic, mostly just paying closer attention to what's already around than I used to.
Started properly in March, though the habit goes back further than the entries do. I'm not consistent about it — some weeks there's nothing, some weeks three entries in as many days, depending entirely on whether anything interesting turned up and whether I remembered to write it down before I forgot the details.
